Challenges
Challenges were identified within the design system, primarily stemming from incomplete components and a lack of component reuse. Many existing components were not linked to the master component, leading to confusion and overwhelm in organization and documentation. This resulted in inappropriate usage by developers and other stakeholders.
Problem
The user interface suffered from outdated components, adhering to UI patterns designed for web components, creating an app with a native build that felt like a webview.
To address these issues, our design team prioritized building missing components in the design system and enhancing the structure and organization of pages. Our focus was on ensuring each component was fully usable and easily reusable, leveraging features like auto layout and variants in Figma to streamline our workflow.
A team
Effective collaboration was crucial in overcoming these challenges. We worked closely with various stakeholders, project owners, and managers, fostering a strong designer-developer partnership to ensure the feasibility of our designs. Additionally, collaboration with the Quality Assurance team was integral to ensuring adherence to all criteria.
